The Dallas-based company was named “Best in Show” at the Society for Information Display’s annual symposium and tradeshow for its groundbreaking work in simplifying the plastic-based electronic display manufacturing process
DALLAS, Texas (May 30, 2018) – Ares Materials, an optoelectronic materials design company, was named Best in Show at Display Week, the Society for Information Display’s 2018 annual symposium and tradeshow. Display Week is the world’s leading event focused on the advancement, growth and commercialization of electronic displays and draws attendees and exhibitors from across the globe, including many of the world’s largest companies. An independent committee of industry experts selects the winners of The Best in Show award to recognize the most significant new products and technologies shown during Display Week.
Ares was recognized for its introduction of Easybond, a new cutting-edge technology designed to eliminate the hurdles of delaminating solution-cast plastic substrates from the mother-glass panel during the fabrication of flexible displays. The recently-announced product is an innovative Mechanical Lift-Off (MLO) technology designed to help display manufacturers significantly improve the manufacturing yields of flexible OLED displays such as those used in the Samsung’s Galaxy line or Apples iPhone X. By reducing the defect rate, Easybond will enable manufacturers to expand their flexible display programs to larger area devices like tablets, televisions and other display applications. Manufacturers will incur less capital expense and avoid the crippling yield loss currently experienced with costly and unreliable laser lift-off equipment. Ares has finally overcome one of the most stubborn obstacles to economical flexible electronics fabrication.
“We are delighted to be recognized by the electronics industry for this vital new product introduction. Easybond’s yield improvements alone will generate potential value in the hundreds of millions of dollars annually for major display manufacturers” said David Arreaga, CEO of Ares Materials. “And Easybond is just the first of many Ares innovations that will upend this massive global market.”
Past Display Week Best in Show winners include Samsung Display, BOE, Japan Display, Inc., LG Display, 3M, AUO and others.
